Days after Netflix dropped the fourth season of Love on the Spectrum, it was renewed for a fifth season

Though most of the main cast is likely to return, star Connor Tomlinson announced that he "chose to pass the torch" and would not come back to the reality series

Love on the Spectrum has more heartwarming stories to share.

Days after the Emmy-winning reality series dropped its fourth season, Netflix announced it had been renewed for a fifth. Though many details about season 5 — which follows young adults with autism as they navigate dating, relationships and heartache — haven't been revealed, star Connor Tomlinson did share that he had no plans to return.

“It is with humility and a heavy heart that I share I will not be partaking in Season 5,” Tomlinson, whose split with Georgie Harris was documented during season 4, told Variety. “I feel like three seasons is enough to tell my story and find love on my own time."

He added, "I’ve chosen to pass the torch to the next person who can make it as big as me."

So, will there be a Love on the Spectrum season 5? Here's everything to know about the reality show's next installment, including which beloved cast members will return.

Yes, Love on the Spectrum was renewed for a fifth season in April 2026, just days after season 4 came out.

Like the seasons before it, the reality show's next installment will continue to document the love lives of its neurodivergent cast — something co-creator Cian O'Clery hopes to continue to explore.

"We will ... tell the stories of some of the people that audiences have grown to love, as well as introducing new people," he told Deadline in August 2025 when asked about the future of the show.

However, O’Clery told Deadline that while he aims to introduce new faces to keep “that conversation going about the diversity of the spectrum” each season, that doesn’t mean some familiar cast members won’t be back.

He added that the series also hopes to continue following the stars that viewers have already gotten to know as they make meaningful progress in their dating and relationship lives — and hinted that "there could be some big steps in future stories in terms of where their love and dating lives go."

After appearing on the series for three seasons, Connor revealed in April 2026 that he would not be returning for Love on the Spectrum season 5 to focus on his acting career.

“Don’t worry about me," he promised his fans in an interview with Variety. "I’m still going to be in the acting business, especially voice work. I’ve always been a huge fan of animation and would love to be involved with a TV show.”

In addition to being a part of the Love on the Spectrum cast, Tomlinson has already appeared in an episode of the NBC medical drama Brilliant Minds.

An official release date for Love on the Spectrum's fifth season hasn't been announced. However, production may already be underway.

In a January 2026 Instagram post, Jennifer Cook, a coach on the show, announced that casting for season 5 had begun.

Because the show's stars are often all over the country, shooting a season of Love on the Spectrum understandably takes some time. O'Clery told Deadline that production stretches their set number of shoot days over a months-long span to ensure "enough time to be able to tell people’s stories in a real, honest, and truthful way."
