Outer Banks Season 5 is just a few days away, and fans will finally get to watch the last chapter of the hit series. Season 4 was released in two parts and had ten episodes in total, with the story focused on the Pogues after their El Dorado gold windfall.

They buy JJ’s land, create Poguelandia 2.0, and open a bait-and-tackle shop. However, money woes and zoning threats pull them back into treasure hunting. Hired by Wes Genrette and Chandler Groff, they later seek an amulet tied to Blackbeard that leads to the legendary Blue Crown.

And this isn't all. We also see how JJ discovered that her real parents are Groff and the late Larissa Genrette and not Luke. As if this wasn't enough, fans also had to witness the heartbreaking death of JJ in the Season 4 finale.

Outer Banks Season 4 begins with the Pogues thinking that their treasure-hunting days are finally over. They found the El Dorado gold and had around $1.1 million which they used to buy JJ's old family property.

After claiming the place, they turn it into their very own Poguelandia, complete with a bait-and-tackle business and deep-sea charter operation. For a brief moment, the key figures like John B, Sarah, JJ, Kiara, Pope, and Cleo experienced an ordinary life.

However, they soon lost their money. The Pogues had a huge tax bill to pay and JJ made the matter worse by gambling their final gold nugget on a dirt-bike race and losing it. At the same time, there was pressure from the Kooks and the authorities, and all of this was just threatening their ownership of the house.

Eventually, they ended up back into the world they know best: treasure hunting. Wealthy Wes Genrette offers them money to retrieve an amulet connected to Blackbeard. He said that his family was cursed and it involves Blackbeard's wife.

Initially, it didn't look so dangerous. The amulet contains information connected to the Blue Crown, an ancient object surrounded by stories of extraordinary power.

Soon, the Pogues are not simply searching for money. They are competing against the dangerous Lupine Corsairs, led by Dalia, while trying to stay alive.

As the Pogues start this new treasure hunt, they realize that Wealthy Wes' story about the family curse was like a distraction. The real objective is the Blue Crown, and several people are prepared to kill for it.

Lightner, one of the Lupine Corsairs becomes a big threat to the group. He kidnaps Cleo, kills Terrance, and temporarily possesses the amulet. This troubles the Pogues as they also had to hide Terrance's body while with questions from Sheriff Shoupe.

Their investigation takes them to Charleston, where Sarah and Pope become trapped. They get stuck inside a church in flooded underground passages while trying to obtain the Mogador Scroll. The scroll is crucial because it contains information leading toward the crown.

Outer Banks Season 4 continues and the search also exposes the darker side of Chandler Groff. The supposed family curse is eventually revealed as a deliberate deception designed to keep attention away from the treasure. Groff has a history of criminal activity, including false identities and murders.

He even succeeds in manipulating JJ and using him in obtaining a special lens associated with Larissa’s grave. Once he gets what he wants, Groff leaves JJ stranded at sea. This proved that his son was never special to him but the crown. This way, the treasure hunt becomes important for the Pogues, especially JJ.

While the other Pogues continue the treasure hunt, JJ learns the shocking truth about his family. After following a clue from Wes, he discovers that Luke Maybank, the man he believed was his father, is not his biological dad.

His real parents are none other than Larissa Genrette and Chandler Groff. This breaks JJ as he always thought he was a Pogue and disliked the Genrette family thinking they're part of the Kook world he rejected.

This hurts him even more as he also realizes that Groff left him and that he was also involved in Larissa's death. So, he becomes increasingly restless. When the town council threatens the Pogues and their property, he attacks parts of downtown Kildare with a baseball bat, causing more chaos and leading to Pope’s arrest.

At the same time in Outer Banks Season 4, relationships change. Rafe becomes less hostile toward the Pogues and grows closer to Sarah. JJ and Kiara grow closer, while Pope and Cleo strengthen their relationship. Sarah also learns she is pregnant with John B.’s baby, giving the group hope for a different future.

Before Outer Banks Season 4 ends, the Mogador Scroll ultimately directs everyone toward Morocco as the final race for the Blue Crown takes place. The Pogues travel across the Atlantic with Rafe’s assistance, while Groff works temporarily with the Lupine Corsairs before turning against them.

The journey of the Pogues becomes really challenging as they have to handle confrontations and dangers all the time. Later, JJ manages to reach the crown, but Groff uses Kiara as leverage and forces him to surrender it.

He then stabs JJ in the stomach and he tragically dies in Kiara’s arms. JJ also told her that he loves her and recognized that, despite everything, his friends and the people he considered family were what truly mattered to him.

The Pogues then bury JJ in Morocco and are left devastated by losing one of their closest friends. Kiara's final declaration for revenge makes it clear that this is far from over and it's not just about treasure hunting anymore.

By the end ofOuter Banks Season 4, Groff has the Blue Crown. He was willing to take it to a buyer in Lisbon, suggesting that the treasure is now in the enemy's hand. So, the Pogues still have a lot to do and take revenge for JJ's murder.
