If anyone has royally iconic throwback photos, it's Kate Middleton.

While her style has become more tailored and timeless since joining the royal family, the Princess of Wales has made fun, fashionable sartorial choices.

Before tying the knot with Prince William in April 2011, some of Kate's more casual looks included the sheer number she famously wore in a university fashion show and a preppy Y2K look in 2004.

Years before she was the Princess of Wales, Kate was a young girl growing up in a village near Berkshire, England.

For a time, the family also lived in Jordan, where this photo with her sister, Pippa Middleton, and father, Michael Middleton, was taken at the Roman ruin at Jerash. (Michael and wife Carole Middleton are also parents to son James Middleton.)

Two years later, in 2004, Kate opted for a preppy look at the annual Game Fair at Blenheim Palace in the countryside of England. This was not long after the future heirs to the throne had gone public with their relationship.

Later that summer, Kate attended the Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park in Stroud, England. For the August 2005 outing, she tucked a pair of medium wash jeans into brown knee-high boots, which she paired with a matching blazer, hat and purse.

The young lovebirds took their romance to the slopes of Klosters, Switzerland, in 2008. William grew up skiing at the Swiss destination, which was also the same spot the couple was first seen cozying up, per Vanity Fair.
