Tay Lautner Reveals Difficult Moment on Her Wedding Day to Taylor Lautner: 'I Cried, It Was Rough'

Tay explained on The Unplanned Podcast that she experienced "an invasion of privacy" on her wedding day when a cameraman captured a private moment and sold the photos

That "icky" experience has influenced the couple's decision to keep their unborn daughter out of the public eye

Tay Lautner is opening up about a difficult situation at her wedding to Taylor Lautner.

During her appearance on Matt and Abby Howard's Unplanned Podcast, the episode of which was released on Wednesday, June 17, Tay — who is "a little past halfway" in her pregnancy — discussed her 2022 wedding and announced her plan to protect her baby from the public eye.

As she discussed heightened privacy concerns that come with being in the spotlight, Tay recalled feeling violated on her wedding day when a photographer used a long-lens camera to capture photos of her and Taylor without their consent. That experience has informed the couple's desire to protect their unborn child from online exposure.

"At our wedding there was someone that had a really long lens camera and took photos of our first look and posted them like the day after our wedding, it was like on Daily Mail," Tay remembered, explaining, "Basically, someone called a photographer or called someone and a photographer had just came with his stuff, had a long lens, and shot us from like the other side of the road."

She added, "I cried, it was rough. That was not a fun thing for me."

Tay described the experience as the first time she felt "an invasion of privacy."

Unlike when images of the couple circulate online after they're photographed "out in public," their wedding was a private affair, and they wanted to share photos on their own terms.

"That really just felt icky," Tay said. "Like it just did not feel good. So I think that kinda just put a bad taste in my mouth."

Now, Tay plans to keep her baby out of the limelight to "protect them."

"The internet is, I've just learned, is such a scary place to have kids," she said. "And, you know, I have friends that share their kids all the time and I love seeing their kids on the internet. But for me personally, I don't think that's what I want to do. But I could change my mind and I could want to do that ... It's just like a level of privacy."

Taylor and Tay made their relationship Instagram official in October 2018. Four years later, the pair tied the knot at a California winery on Nov. 11, 2022, exactly one year after the actor proposed.

In March 2026, the couple announced that they're expecting their first child. They revealed their baby's sex in June 2026, sharing that they're having a baby girl.
