Warning: Spoilers for Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen!
Some very bad things did indeed happen in Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.
Netflix's unsettling new horror series stars Camila Morrone as Rachel Harkin and Adam DiMarco as Nicky Cunningham, a couple who are about to be married.
They travel to Nicky's family cabin for the big day, but with a generations-old curse haunting Rachel, the wedding takes a dark turn when people start dying at the blood-soaked nuptials.
The eight-part disturbing tale premiered March 26 on Netflix, and not only does it feature a horrifying and bloody wedding, but it also has a twist for Rachel — and the curse she has been carrying.
Here's the ending of Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, explained.
Do Rachel and Nicky get married?

The entire series leads up to Rachel and Nicky's wedding, and while they technically do get married, horrors ensue before the honeymoon phase can begin.
In the final episode, Rachel and Nicky make it to the altar, but Nicky gets cold feet before they say their "I do's." Because of the delay, Rachel and Nicky aren't married in time to break the generations-old curse.
This results in multiple bloody and gruesome deaths for the Cunninghams, to whom the curse has now been transferred.
During the deadly wedding reception, they complete the ceremony, but it doesn't stop people from dying — including Rachel.

In episode 4, "The Witness," a man known as the Witness (Zlatko Buric), explains to Rachel what her family's curse is.
Generations ago in the Witness' family, a bride and groom were set to be married, but the groom tragically died. The bride made a deal with Death to bring her soulmate back from the dead.
Death agreed, on the condition that she really believed he was her soulmate.
The children born from the "fated union" carried the curse, and "were challenged to find their soulmate in marriage or pay Death what he's owed." It was passed down to the Witness, and then transferred to his fiancée, Marianne, after he left her at the altar.
Marianne eventually married someone else, Thomas Harkin, Rachel's great-great-great-great-great-grandfather.
The Witness tells Rachel that she must marry her soulmate by sundown on her wedding day or she will die. He adds that he's been condemned to bear witness to all the weddings in Marianne's bloodline, and her wedding is next.

After the curse spreads to the Cunninghams, family members start dying, but not all of them. The curse only affects those who are part of the bloodline and who are married to someone they don't believe is their soulmate.
Victoria (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and Portia (Gus Birney) die, along with other Cunningham relatives at the wedding.
Meanwhile, Nicky, Jules (Jeff Wilbusch) and Boris (Ted Levine) all live because they believe they are partnered with their soulmates.
Nicky’s sister-in-law, Nell (Karla Crome), survives, as does Nicky's young nephew, Jude (Sawyer Fraser), who will now be burdened with the curse.

Nicky survives the wedding, and it is because that after everything, he still believes Rachel is his soulmate.
"I definitely, once he realizes that he wasn't hallucinating, maybe he tries to find her [Rachel] and just get some closure on what happened," DiMarco told PEOPLE when asked about his character's ending. "I mean, he didn't die. He still believes that she's his soulmate, and she may realize that later too. Who knows?"
What happens to Rachel?

After Rachel and Nicky complete their wedding ceremony, Rachel begins to bleed out of her eyes, nose and mouth, like the members of Nicky's family.
She escapes outside, but collapses in the snow and dies. Rachel is then resurrected, and becomes the newest Witness, who will be forced to attend the weddings of Nicky's family members.
After being reborn, Rachel packs up her stuff, and leaves the cabin. She gets in a truck that says "Just Married" on the back, with a string of cans attached.
When she starts up the truck, "We Will Not Be Lovers" by The Waterboys begins to play. She tries to change the track, but the song just starts over, so she lets it play.
Rachel drives down the country road, and throws her wedding ring out the window, leaving the Cunninghams behind her — for now.

Yes, the curse that haunted Rachel's family has now transferred to the Cunninghams.
While preparing to leave the cabin, she runs into Nicky's nephew, Jude.
"You have to be really, really, really, really careful who you choose to marry," she warns him.
"But don't worry, I'll be there to witness," Rachel adds, confirming she is aware of her role as the new Witness.
