- The lead investigator on Nancy Guthrie's missing persons case told Fox News his team is getting closer to solving her disappearance.

- Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Tucson, Ariz., home on Feb. 1.

- Her disappearance is being treated by local authorities and the FBI as a possible abduction.

Arizona authorities believe they are getting closer to solving the disappearance of *Today* anchor Savannah Guthrie's missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who has been leading the investigation, spoke with a Fox News reporter outside the the department's headquarters on May 8. When asked if investigators were any closer to finding Guthrie, Nanos replied, "We are." He did not elaborate further before driving off in a white Corvette.

Nanos was also asked if he had a message for the Guthrie family ahead of Mother's Day weekend, to which the sheriff declined a response.

Savannah Guthrie did have a message for her mother on the first Mother's Day since the 84-year-old's disappearance.

"Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie — we miss you with every breath," Savannah wrote in the caption of a heartfelt post shared to her Instagram on Sunday. "We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you."

The journalist shared a compilation of throwback videos showing her mother enjoying time with her children — Savannah, her older sister Annie, and their older brother Camron. She also included a plea for any help in returning her mother to the Guthrie family.

"We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference. Call 1800CALLFBI. You can be anonymous and the reward remains available," Guthrie wrote. "Please keep praying. Bring her home."

Nancy was last seen at her home in Arizona on Jan. 31 and was reported missing the following day when she failed to show up at a neighbor's house for a virtual church service. Authorities declared her home and the surrounding area a crime scene within days of her disappearance.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI urge those with information to contact them at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
