Reese Witherspoon is mourning the death of Diane Ladd with a heartfelt tribute.
The Oscar winner, 49, shared several photos of Ladd on Instagram Wednesday, Nov. 5, two days after the actress' death at age 89.
"Oh Diane! What a beautiful spirit, filled with light, childlike creativity, and boundless ideas," wrote Witherspoon. "A born & bred storyteller from Mississippi, your golden voice made every small moment feel like a remembered dream."
"You were my inspiration and my Other Mother," she added. Ladd is the mother of Laura Dern, Witherspoon's pal and costar from Big Little Lies and the 2014 film Wild.

"May all your angels welcome you home into a place of love & light," added Witherspoon. "Til we meet again."
Dern, 58, announced Ladd's death on Nov. 3, saying in a statement, "My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, Calif."

"She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created," the Oscar winner added. "We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now."
A three-time Oscar nominee, Ladd, who shortened her last name from Ladner when she started working in Hollywood, was known for films like Wild at Heart, Rambling Rose and Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore.
In January 2023, Ladd posted a photo of herself smiling with Dern and Witherspoon on Instagram, writing at the time, "New Years Brunch with Reese at Laura’s celebrating the successful buzz consideration of their movies."
