- - ‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2 Adds ‘Shameless’ Alum Steve Howey

Steve Howey has joined “Ransom Canyon” Season 2 at Netflix in a recurring guest star role, Variety has learned.

Howey will play Levi, Staten’s (Josh Duhamel) half brother. The character is further described as “a mountain man of sorts who lives off the land.” Along with Duhamel, Howey appears alongside fellow cast members Minka Kelly, Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, Marianly Tejada, and Casey W. Johnson. Production on Season 2 is now underway at Netflix Studios Albuquerque.

Howey is best known for playing Kevin Ball across all 11 seasons of the hit Showtime series “Shameless.” That show wrapped up its run in 2021. Howey also led the TV series adaptation of the “True Lies” at CBS following “Shameless” and is known for his role in the popular sitcom “Reba.” His other recent TV credits include “High Potential,” “Happy’s Place” (which reunited him with “Reba” star Reba McEntire), “Brilliant Minds,” and “SEAL Team.” He will also appear in the highly-anticipated “Off Campus” TV adaptation currently in the works at Prime Video.

He is repped by IAG and Thruline Entertainment.

Along with the aforementioned series regulars, the recurring cast for “Ransom Canyon” Season 2 includes Patricia Clarkson, Ben Robson, Heidi Engerman, Tatanka Means, Justin Johnson Cortez, Kenny Miller, Philip Winchester, Jennifer Ens, Brett Cullen, and Niko Guardado.

The official description of Season 2 states, “The future of Ransom Canyon hangs in the balance as ranching dynasties continue to vie for power, and new faces arrive, threatening the lives and loves of this quaint, western town.”

April Blair developed the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Dan Angel and Bradley Gardner executive produce, with both Duhame and Kelly executive producing in addition to starring.
