Prince William has reportedly reached an important decision about how he will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana's death next year.
As the anniversary approaches, three decades after Diana tragically died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997, speculation has mounted about how the Royal Family will honor the milestone. Prince Harry is reportedly in discussions to produce a Netflix documentary about his mother, and he has purportedly reached out to family members to participate.
Reports previously indicated that Prince William was also weighing involvement in a documentary, though not his brother's production, as he and Harry remain estranged. However, The Times has now reported that the future King, who recently suggested an "upbeat resilience" amid family drama, will not make a film about his mother and has declined "several offers to make or appear in documentary tributes."

The publication further reported that William also wants to avoid a situation in which he and Harry are "pitted against each other" during filming for any documentary. Friends of William's told The Times that next year's anniversary is "a difficult situation for him," and that he's still "really emotional" about his mother's death.
The Prince of Wales also considers his contributions to documentaries commemorating the 20th anniversary of Diana's death in 2017 as his "final catharsis." William has not publicly confirmed how he will mark the somber occasion next year, but his friends believe he is most likely to mark it in private.

In 2017, for the 20th anniversary of Diana's death, William and Harry collaborated on two documentaries about Diana, the BBC's Diana, 7 Days, and ITV's Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. At a Kensington Palace screening for Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, William explained why he and Harry regarded the film as their final public word on their mother.
He told guests, "We won't speak as openly about her again." In the film, the brothers described how they navigated their grief over her death. "There's not many days that go by that I don't think of her … My mother lives with me every day," William said. Harry recalled how Diana "smothered us with love" and said, "there's a lot of grief that still needs to be let out."

William and Harry have been estranged since the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, relocated to the U.S. after stepping back as senior working members of the Royal Family in 2020.
They were last seen together at the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in Norfolk, on August 28, 2024. However, they sat on opposite sides of the aisle and reportedly did not speak to each other.

Their last major public, televised appearance together was earlier at their father King Charles III's coronation in May 2023, where they also sat separately and did not interact despite taking part in the same procession.
Sources have told Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice that William and his wife, Kate Middleton, have "stopped caring" about the drama surrounding Harry and Meghan.
After years of tense family drama — most of which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made public in a documentary, a book, and various interviews since their exit from the Royal Family six years ago — William and Kate have reached a shocking new place with Harry and Meghan: indifference.
"The anger has gone," one source told Naughty But Nice. "William spent years being furious. Catherine was deeply hurt. But you cannot stay angry forever. Eventually, you stop fighting and simply stop caring."

That doesn't mean a reconciliation has occurred. William and Harry are still very much estranged. However, insiders have clarified that the heat has subsided as the future King and Queen have emotionally distanced themselves.
"Harry and Meghan can live ten miles away or 5,000 miles away — it makes very little difference to William now," an insider claimed. "He has Catherine, his children, his work and his future. Harry is no longer occupying the enormous amount of emotional space he once did."
Kate is reportedly in agreement and isn't "sitting around talking about Meghan," a source alleged. "She has moved on. There was a time when every accusation and every headline reopened the wound. That simply isn't happening anymore." William and Kate's silence speaks volumes as another insider noted that the "opposite of love isn't hate — it's indifference."
That's reportedly where William and Kate are now, the source concluded. They're not looking for "revenge" and don't want "another war." They just want to "get on with their lives."
