Prince Harry made a surprise appearance on the Hasan Minhaj Doesn't Know podcast

Prince Harry seemed to be out of the loop when it came to a hot topic in the music world during a surprise podcast appearance.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, appeared on the Hasan Minhaj Doesn't Know podcast in an episode released on Oct. 29, where the host asked him about the rumored feud between pop superstars Taylor Swift and Charli xcx at the start of the show.

"This one's heavy, Harry. What do you think of this Taylor Swift, Charli xcx beef?" Minhaj asked as the episode began.

"The what? Oh no," Harry replied, looking genuinely stumped. The prince glanced off-camera as if searching for help, eyebrows raised in confusion, before breaking into an awkward laugh — a reaction that made it pretty clear he had no idea what the interviewer was talking about.

"No, this is serious. Cause was Charli's diss track even a diss track? I mean, to me, 'Sympathy is a Knife' was about something completely different, but then Taylor comes back, and I think escalates it, with the 'Actually Romantic' thing," Minhaj explained.

"And I'm kind of thinking to myself, 'Is this fair? Or did Charli draw blood and Taylor had to respond?" he continued.

Prince Harry paused before he began to speak, and Minhaj interjected, "Sometimes I think, where do we go from here, you know?"

"Well," Prince Harry said before a laugh.

Harry's podcast moment came the day after his wife, Meghan Markle, jammed to Swift's Life of a Showgirl song "Opalite" just before the latest launch from her As ever lifestyle brand.

According to a logline, Minhaj and Harry dive into how the Duke of Sussex is settling into life in America, the danger of making the same mistakes between the A.I. boom and advent of social media and "what a guy has to do around here to get knighted."

In a clip shared on Instagram, the comedian asked Harry if he could mimic an American accent — and Harry gave his best attempt, accompanied by banter about ordering breadsticks with ranch at Applebee's.

This is far from the first podcast appearance for Harry. He's previously been a guest on LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman's Masters of Scale podcast, journalist Bryony Gordon's podcast and Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert. He and Meghan also joined the Teenager Therapy podcast together in October 2020 to mark World Mental Health Day.

Prince Harry also demonstrated his podcast hosting skills after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced a "multi-year partnership" between Spotify and their production company Archewell Audio in 2020. They released a teaser and a holiday episode featuring a starry lineup including Elton John, Tyler Perry, Stacey Abrams and James Corden as they reflected on 2020. (Even their son, Prince Archie, got in on the fun by taking a turn on the mic!)

Meghan's Archetypes podcast ran for one season on Spotify before the couple parted ways with Spotify, and the Duchess of Sussex went on to host Confessions of a Female Founder for Lemonada Media.

Although Prince Harry was never a guest on either of his wife's podcasts, she often spoke about him — and he did crash an interview with Serena Williams! On the first-ever episode of Archetypes, Harry popped in to say hello to the tennis superstar before their chat got underway.
