Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are "crawling" back to Buckingham Palace because they've "run out of ideas," according to a royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to travel to the UK in July, along with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham - a sporting tournament for injured ex-service personnel organized by the prince.

Royal expert Tom Sykes described the family's return to Britain in two words - "desperation and failure" - on The Royalist podcast, adding, "They've run out of ideas, and their finances are basically in jeopardy." Sykes continued, "And Meghan is someone who is desperate for fame. She's desperate for recognition. She is desperate for money, of course, and status. And it just seems to her that a visit to the royal family in Britain would restore to her the credibility she once had." It comes after King Charles was left in tears as he overheard Prince William's private conversation.

Author Tom Bower suggested Harry's motivation for returning to the UK stems from his sense of "isolation" in the US and a desire to repair relationships with his British relatives.

"He misses his roots, he misses England, and somehow wants to worm his way back into the affections not only of his own family, but of the British people," he said.

Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, last met King Charles in person during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. Whether the monarch will meet his youngest grandchildren during their upcoming visit remains uncertain.

Harry has previously expressed his desire to bring his children to the UK from the US, though he cited security concerns amid his ongoing legal battle over his UK protection detail. The duke has reportedly received assurances that sufficient security measures will be arranged for the trip this summer.

Following Harry's unsuccessful Court of Appeal challenge against the Home Office regarding his UK security arrangements in 2025, he took part in a BBC interview where he voiced his dreams for a family reconciliation and disclosed that Charles wouldn't communicate with him due to the legal proceedings.

He stated at the time that he "can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK."

The King's youngest son has made numerous allegations against the King, Queen Camilla, his brother Prince William and his sister-in-law Kate Middleton since withdrawing from his position as senior working royal in 2020.

These have included assertions that Charles was jealous of Meghan and Kate and that William physically attacked him and pushed him into a dog bowl.

It comes after sources revealed Princess Diana's savage words to Camilla at a birthday party after discovering her affair with Charles.
