‘Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond’s Son Jamar Arrested, Facing Drug and Assault Charges

Drummond fostered Goff in 2018 after he became close to her family through her sons and a serious ATV accident on their property

Jamar Goff, the foster son of Ree Drummond, has been arrested on drug and assault charges.

Jamar Goff, whom Drummond welcomed into her family as a foster son in 2018, was arrested and booked into Jefferson County Jail in Alabama on Sept. 16, according to arrest records reviewed by PEOPLE. Goff, 23, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance; drug paraphernalia, use, possession, delivery, or sale; attempting to elude a police officer; and aggravated assault. He is being held on $37,000 bond.

At the time of his arrest, Goff was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Drummond, who starred on Food Network and is known for her Pioneer Woman brand, previously opened up about the decision to foster Goff in 2018.

“Fostering a kid was never something Ladd and I pursued or felt called to do, but Jamar’s circumstances presented themselves to us in a way we couldn’t ignore,” Drummond, 57, wrote in her book, Frontier Follies. “Long story short, all six foot five inches of him showed up at our house one afternoon, bag in hand, ready to move in.”

Goff was introduced to the family through Drummond’s sons, Bryce and Todd, who he played football with. He became close to the family when he got into an accident on one of their all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).

“He made too sharp a turn and wound up tipping over the ATV and badly injuring his foot. A skin graft (yikes) and a tendon repair surgery (double yikes) later, he had to stay in bed for more than six weeks to give his foot time to heal,” Drummond wrote in Frontier Follies.

Goff would recover and return to the field to play football in 2021, when he began his college career with the University of Central Oklahoma Broncos. “Big big day!!” Drummond wrote on Instagram of the announcement of Goff’s college decision.
