Over 160,000 Pounds of Meat Recalled Due to False Federal Inspection Labeling

Most of us probably have a package of raw meat in the freezer for an emergency meal—unless you’re following a vegetarian or vegan diet. But if you recently purchased yours, you may want to take a second look at the label. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) just announced a recall affecting approximately 167,639 pounds of meat.

According to the USDA’s announcement, several raw pork, beef, and goat products are being recalled by Star Meat Delivery Inc., as they “were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, bearing labels with a false USDA mark of inspection.” The issue was discovered during routine Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) surveillance activities. The USDA has classified the recall at the highest risk level.

Which products are impacted by the recall?

All of the recalled meat was produced prior to September 22, 2026, and was distributed in bulk under the A&D Foods label, according to the USDA. The meat was originally shipped to a distributor in Georgia before making its way to various retailers and restaurants nationwide.

The USDA is warning that the recalled products may have a false inspection label with the establishment number “EST. 1363.”

According to the report, not all products may contain that labeling, since retail stores may attach their own stickers with pricing and safe-handling instructions.

Can eating the recalled meat make you sick?

As of right now, there have been no reported illnesses or injuries associated with the recall. However, the USDA warns that “food produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that put consumer health and safety at risk.”

What should you do with a recalled product?

The USDA is urging any consumers who have the recalled meat in their homes not to eat it, as it should be “considered misbranded and unsafe to eat.” Instead, throw it away or return it to where you bought it.
