Norway's Erling Haaland is certainly having some fun during the team's World Cup run in the U.S.

In a newly released video posted Wednesday, June 24, on his official YouTube page, the Norwegian soccer star adopted a Southern accent in an attempt to convince onlookers he was just an average guy, despite helping to lead his team to a Round of 32 berth in this year's tournament.

"Are y'all on the Norwegian soccer team?" a fan asked Haaland, who replied, "No, not me." As the fan pressed further, the 25-year-old athlete— who sat outdoors in casual attire — replied, "I'm the social media guy," as YouTube producer Jonathan Turton, who sat across from Haaland during the exchange, pointed to himself when the fan inquired if one of the two "was the biggest soccer player in the world."

As the clip continued, Haaland states, "No worries y'all," in an American accent before speaking with a different woman. "That's your American Southern accent," she said to him.

Haaland, who is making his World Cup debut this year, has been taking in the sights stateside. Earlier this month, he cheered for the Carolina Hurricanes during their eventual Stanley Cup triumph over the Vegas Golden Knights. Haaland also toured Times Square in New York City with his girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen.

The couple began dating around 2021 and welcomed their first baby together, a son, three years later.
