Peter Serafinowicz‘s 2016 cult-favourite superhero comedy TV series arrives on Netflix today. The series also features Griffin Newman and is created by Ben Edlund, based on his comic book character released in 1988.

Both seasons of the cult superhero comedy arrive on Netflix today

Netflix has added both seasons of The Tick to its platform today, July 15, 2026. The series was initially created by Ben Edlund for Amazon Prime Video in 2016. It ran for two seasons before Amazon canceled the cult superhero comedy show in 2019, despite receiving strong reviews and a good fanbase.

The Tick’s story centres on Arthur Everest (played by Griffin Newman). He’s an ordinary accountant with no powers and a lot of anxiety. He begins to believe his city is caught up in something bigger than anyone realises, and most people think he’s losing his mind. Then, he gets to meet The Tick, played by Peter Serafinowicz, a big blue superhero who is loud, sincere, and completely ridiculous in the best way. Together, they fight strange villains while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens their city.

Other roles in the series include Valorie Curry as Dot Everest, Brendan Hines as Superian, Yara Martinez as Ms Lint, Scott Speiser as Overkill, Jackie Earle Haley as The Terror, and François Chau as Walter. Each of their performances helped balance the show’s absurd comedy with surprisingly heartfelt character moments.

The first season has received a 90% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. The second scored a perfect 100%, making it one of the highest-rated live-action superhero comedies of its time. One of the major reasons The Tick stands out is its unique humour. Rather than solely relying on superhero action, it pokes fun at comic book tropes while embracing positivity. The Tick’s confidence, Arthur’s anxious state, and the show’s collection of odd heroes and villains create a comedy that feels both fresh and devoted to the genre.

The Tick has around 22 episodes in total in both seasons, with each episode running between 22 and 28 minutes.
