On Tuesday evening, Mikimoto kicked off New York Fashion Week with an star-studded cocktail event celebrating its latest high jewelry collections.
Held at the elegant Atelier M space overlooking Columbus Circle, the unveiling saw the renowned Japanese jeweler and originator of cultured pearls showcase its new jewelry creations from the Les Pétales collection, which draws inspiration from the delicate movement and luminous color of rose petals carried on a soft breeze, and the Bows collection, an evolution of the atelier’s iconic ribbon motif. Throughout the evening, models were scattered around the room, dripping in the impressive diamond and pearl pieces for guests to behold.
Among the highlights previewed included an intricately-designed, multi-million-dollar necklace and earring suite featuring bow motifs set with pastel-hued gemstones and Mikimoto’s signature Ayokya cultured pearls, as well as a dramatic bib necklace and matching cuff bracelets made up of Akoya cultured pearls that are layered with rose gold and diamond petals.
Several high-profile guests were in attendance, including Uma Thurman who wore a tasseled pendant necklace made up of 427 Akoya cultured pearls and an impressive 12 carat tanzanite. The award-winning actress layered the showstopping piece over a white silk blouse and leather skirt. Other attendees present were supermodel Paloma Elsesser, Tina Leung, Laura Kim, Nikki Kynard, Gloria Burkhandt, Mary Leesy, Laura Jung, and Jules Kolodny. Kentaro Nishimura, CEO & President of Mikimoto US, was also there for the soiree, as was Japanese calligrapher Seicho Taniguchi.
