LIV Golf stops selling tickets for canceled season finale after embarrassing blunder

LIV Golf has stopped selling tickets on its website for the team finale in Michigan, showing tickets as "no longer available.”
Though it has yet to be confirmed by LIV Golf, reports indicate that the league's $40 million team finale is not happening.
“We've been told to prepare as though it's going ahead,” said Cameron Smith ahead of LIV Golf New York. “So we're expecting it to happen.”
Since then, however, LIV Golf has stopped selling the tickets on its official website after accommodations for their contractors were cancelled, local reports indicated no signs of an event at The Cardinal at Saint John's golf course and the event was taken off Fox Sports’ broadcasting schedule.

Asked if LIV Golf was happening following a Bryson DeChambeau-led players meeting at Trump National Bedminster, Richard Bland struggled to confirm.
“I'm not really ready to say anything there, so I'm gonna decline that one,” Bland responded to reporters.
According to a report from The Telegraph on Wednesday, LIV Golf stars were informed that the team championship event in Michigan, scheduled for Aug. 27-30, has been canceled.

The uncertainty comes after LIV Golf New Orleans was canceled and the PIF announced it would cut funding following the 2026 season. CEO Scott O’Neil said they found a new investor, but he wouldn’t disclose any details about the funding source.
“We're very fortunate that a lead investor has signed a term sheet approved by our board, which will carry and fund LIV going forward. It's very good news for us,” said O’Neil. \“We have good excitement.”
Despite the exciting announcement, no one is exactly sure what will change or remain the same regarding LIV Golf's future, as reports suggest its biggest name, Jon Rahm, is set to leave the Saudi-founded circuit.
The Telegraph also indicated that the DP World Tour is weighing a potential return for Rahm, who joined the LIV Golf circuit prior to the 2024 season.

"I play a game for a living," Rahm said ahead of LIV Golf UK, "I can't really be too upset about how things are going in life. Even though I'm very frustrated on the course very often, off the course I'm very different to what a lot of people think."
Despite the significant organizational and financial challenges facing the league, those involved remain optimistic about its future, though it's very uncertain.
“I've spoken a little bit in the past about what this next generation of LIV Golf might look like,” said O’Neil. “What I will tell you is we really are doubling down on this whole notion of complete not compete, and how do we take the incredible aspects from this last five years and this journey we've had and how do we move into an era of cooperation?”
