Lena Dunham marked her fifth wedding anniversary with a heartfelt tribute to husband Luis Felber on Instagram
She wrote, “Sometimes you get set up on a blind date... and he turns out to be a wonderful husband, a beautiful father and an incredibly skilled curator of hair accessories”
The couple, who married in 2021, recently welcomed their first child via surrogate
Lena Dunham is sharing a special tribute to husband Luis Felber.
The Girls creator, 40, celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary in an Instagram post on Thursday, Sept. 24 by penning a sweet tribute about how she knew she was always going to marry the musician.
She shared a photo of Felber, 40, presenting her with a pot of flowers and a box from Bigelow as she sat on a bed. A second photo appeared to show some of the gifts that he got her, including various hair clips, both big and small, hairpins and a Bigelow hair brush.
“5 years married,” she captioned the photos. “Sometimes you get set up on a blind date with a friend’s friend’s friend and you’re like ‘hey, I know I’ve proven myself an unreliable narrator of love, but I think I’m gonna marry him’ and everyone who has witnessed your meandering path is kinda like ‘okay, at it again, are we psycho?’(in a nicer way.).”

“But then you do. And he turns out to be a wonderful husband, a beautiful father and an incredibly skilled curator of hair accessories,” she continued. “Don’t quit before the miracle 🥹.”
The actress alluded in her post to the blind date she and Felber had in January 2021. The pair moved in together a few months later, and got married in September of that same year.
Dunham confirmed the wedding date on her Instagram a few days after the official ceremony. “9*25*21 - that’s how she became the nanny...” the actress captioned a wedding photo of the couple.

The director’s latest Instagram post comes one week after she revealed that she and Felber welcomed their first baby together, a daughter, via surrogate, per an op-ed inVogue.
“Like a kid who wasn’t sure if their schoolmates would arrive for the birthday party, I was bashful and dizzy with joy,” Dunham wrote of meeting her daughter for the first time.

Dunham had previously shared that she and Felber were hoping to expand their family. In July 2025, she told The Times that they were in the process of doing just that. Reflecting on her hysterectomy, the actress called the procedure a “relief,” adding that her priority was being able to “safely” meet the couple’s children.

“It was a grief but it was also a relief,” she said. “I thought I would have the opportunity to experience my fertility and my cycle waning and it never was.”
“Instead it was a very quick, sharp cut-off...I will say we’re in the process of expanding our family in new ways,” explained Dunham. “I want to safely meet our children and then figure out how to talk about it.”
