After much anticipation, one of television's most beloved characters is back in Marshals. The new CBS spinoff follows Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) in the aftermath of Yellowstone's series finale, when it seemed like he was finally riding off into the sunset for his happily-ever-after with Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and their son Tate (Brecken Merrill).
But happily-ever-afters are hard to come by in the Dutton world. Instead, Marshals finds a grief-stricken Kayce in a very different place—ultimately becoming a U.S. Marshal. Read on for a recap of the series premiere and a preview of this week's all-new episode.

He and Tate are both lost and inconsolable and Monica's death has caused their father-son bond to deteriorate. Tate has become a rebellious teen and Kayce is too deep in his own despair to notice.
