Joe Manganiello responded to his ex-wife, Sofìa Vergara, after she re-shared a cryptic post about dealing with a “narcissistic man.”
Her post came after excerpts of his book were released detailing the breakdown of their marriage.
Manganiello responded, advising people to “read the book first.”
Joe Manganiello has responded to his ex-wife Sofìa Vergara’s apparent comments following the release of excerpts from his memoir Bloodlines.
During an appearance on CBS Mornings on October 11, Gayle King asked Manganiello about Vergara’s comments. “Her son posted a thing about, ‘This is what happens when you deal with a narcissistic man,’ and she has liked that post. They appear to be saying that basically, it’s terrible what happened to you but the bottom line is that you’re a narcissist. What do you say to that?” she said, per People.

Manganiello replied, “Well, I think anybody who said that should read the book first and understand what the book is actually about because it’s not about that. It’s about the suffering I went through.”
He added that the memoir is about “survival and it’s also about hope.”

King’s question referred to a post originally shared by Vergara’s son, Manolo, that featured an image of a chart comparing a “good man” and a “narcissistic man.”
Manolo wrote below the photo, “Remember kids, when dealing with a narcissist, it doesn’t matter how much you do for them, because they will resent you for it and nothing will never be enough, and they’ll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy.”
Vergara re-shared the post on her own Instagram Story, adding the clapping hands emoji.
Manganiello and Vergara were married from 2015 until 2023. In his memoir, Manganiello claimed that his marriage to Vergara had “become devoid of any emotionality whatsoever” amid his struggle with an autoimmune condition. He also said that the couple had been in the process of trying to have children via IVF, but that they stopped after his health issues took a turn. Vergara “refused to hug him even when he begged,” People reported.
