Matchbox: The Movie marks Biel’s first on-screen role in nine years

Jessica Biel’s older son could be following in his parents’ footsteps!

The actress, 44, recently spoke with E! News at the premiere of her new film Matchbox: The Movie, where she revealed that her older son Silas, 11, makes a small cameo at the end of the film.

“He plays a small part in this in the movie at the very end, which is really cute,” says Biel, who goes on to share whether she thinks Silas might have an interest in the entertainment industry.

“He’s a DJ, so he’s kind of interested in both lanes,” adds Biel, who shares Silas and son Phineas, 6, with husband Justin Timberlake. “We’re just kind of letting him take his time and see what happens and what he really gets interested in.”

Bilas also shared a little about what it was like when her two kids visited her on set of the movie, which also stars her sons’ “hero” John Cena.

“They’re so funny. Like I feel like their brains implode whenever they come to set, especially a set like this, where there’s a hero of theirs that they’re meeting,” she says. “There’s cool action sequences, there’s fight sequences. Like my little one, I think he was like, ‘Is this real? Is this not real?’ My 11-year-old is like, I know what this is. But the 6-year-old is still like, ‘What’s happening here?’”

Earlier this summer, Biel talked to E! News at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 about her film inspired by Mattel’s iconic toy cars and shared what she’d shrink down and keep in her pocket all day.

“My kids!” Biel said of her son. “That would be great if they could just hang out right in a pocket, hanging with me all day long.”

At the same event, Biel spoke with PEOPLE about starring in Matchbox the Movie, which marks her first time back on-screen in nine years. She explained that her kids were part of her decision to get back into acting,

“Getting back into the film industry has been something that I’ve been really excited about doing,” Biel told PEOPLE exclusively at the event. “It has to be right timing, it has to be the right thing.”

“I have little kids, you know, there’s a lot of elements that go into a decision, for me at least,” the actress added. “I just was inspired by this cast, was inspired by these cars and the nostalgia. I wanted to do something in the action space again, and this just seemed like the right thing. I was really excited to be a part of it.”

Although Biel and Timberlake, 45, don’t often share details about their sons’ lives, in June the actress celebrated Timberlake on Father’s Day with a heartfelt post on Instagram, featuring rare photos of their family of four.

“Happy Father’s Day to the dad who is always ALL in,” she began. “The one who turns ordinary moments into adventures and bedtime into comedy hour. The dad who is not afraid of the tears, the tender, quiet times, or the hard conversations.”

“Watching you be a father is one of my favorite things. Our boys are so lucky to call you Dad. WE ❤️ U!,” she concluded her post.
