Who would think a Founding Father could flub the national anthem?

*Hamilton** *actor Christopher Jackson, who originated the role of George Washington in the Broadway musical, hit a lyrical snafu while belting "The Star Spangled Banner" before the New York Mets' Opening Day game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Just when he got to the line "O'er the ramparts we watched," the Tony nominee took a beat before singing, "What so proudly we hailed."

Though the *And Just Like That** *actor — who also sang the national anthem ahead of the NFL playoff matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Los Angeles Rams in January — eventually found his footing, social media was quick to point out the mistake.

"Is it a good sign or bad one for the Mets that George Washington had trouble with the Star-Spangled Banner on Opening Day at Citi Field?" one user asked on Twitter/X.

Another user said Jackson's mix-up was "not a good omen for the season," while more serious criticisms included a user calling the actor out for "butchering that s--t."
