General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn tells Bill Cassidy to “Enjoy Hell” over voting for Todd Blanche for attorney general

On Sunday, former Louisiana senator Bill Cassidy appeared on CBS News’ Face the Nation and shared that he ultimately voted for Todd Blanche for Attorney General despite initial doubts. The revelation earned him backlash, including from the daytime soap opera actress Nancy Lee Grahn.

Eight hours ago, the 70-year-old General Hospital star wrote underneath one of his Threads posts from May:

“Enjoy hell.”

However, the post had nothing to do with Todd Blanche’s appointment. Instead, Bill Cassidy spoke about his 2026 senatorial re-election, where he came in third behind fellow Republicans Julia Letlow and John Fleming with only 24.8 percent vote in the primary. Subsequently, Letlow won the election.

“Thank you to the people of Louisiana who voted for me and believed in my vision for the future of our state,” Cassidy captioned his post at the time.

In the video, Bill was heard thanking everyone who worked or volunteered on his campaign or voted for him. He said he was “indebted” and “pledged” to continue working for the “betterment” of Louisiana and the country at large.

Before being confirmed as the Attorney General, Todd Blanche served as the Acting AG and Deputy AG since April 2026 and March 2025, respectively. He is also the acting Librarian of Congress and has defended Donald Trump in his 2024 trial regarding the hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels. Blanche has represented the U.S. President in his election obstruction and federal classified documents cases.

For these reasons and more, Bill Cassidy “frankly, almost weighed to vote no” for Todd Blanche. He mentioned on Face the Nation that the special IRS protections for Trump and his family were “totally wrong,” and made him doubt whether he should extend his support for the POTUS’ ally as Attorney General. However, after a thorough review process, he cast a decisive yes.

“No American should be targeted by the law, but no American should be above the law,” the Louisiana Senator stated.

Bill Cassidy, who is the Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, said:

“There's a lot of positive things to say about Todd Blanche.”

When asked if he was “confident” that Blanche would ensure fair elections and uphold the U.S. Constitution, Cassidy replied:

“I cannot predict the future, and this is not a black or white decision but a gradation of grey. But I'm confident on that… I'll be criticized for this vote. What's new? But the people of Louisiana can be assured that I worked hard to understand the issue and to make the right decision.”

Bill explained that while he continues to be troubled by the IRS provisions for Trump, his sons, and his business, he decided to back Blanche and give him the benefit of the doubt after several federal prosecutors offered positive feedback about his capacity to run the Justice Department.

It is noteworthy that, in the absence of GOP Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell due to medical reasons, Bill Cassidy’s vote in favor of Todd Blanche became a deciding factor in the Senate ahead of confirmation as AG, with a 50-49 vote. Two Republican Senators who voted against Blanche were Maine’s Susan Collins and Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski.

As for Nancy Lee Grahn, she has been facing backlash for her social media views, including calling Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting the “consequence for his actions.” In the wake of the comment, conservatives launched a petition on change.org in late 2025 titled, “Fire Nancy Lee Grahn from ABC and General Hospital.” So far, it has raised over 1,255 signatures. The actress has been playing Alexis Davis on ABC’s longest-running show since 1996.
