Michael B. Jordan is hard at work developing the *Fourth Wing* books into a TV series. He's an executive producer on the project, but will he also star in it?

Jordan was asked that exact question when he opened up about the casting process that is currently underway for the Prime Video adaptation. And while he didn't confirm if he would appear in a role, he also didn't say no.

"I don't know," Jordan "repeatedly" said while looking around, according to the BBC.

*Fourth Wing* is the first novel in the best-selling *Empyrean* book series by author Rebecca Yarros, with three books out now (including 2023's *Iron Flame *and 2025's *Onyx Storm*) and two more on the way. The romantasy epic about a war college for dragon riders fighting against dark magic wielders is, of course, full of young adults in their late teens and early 20s, so Jordan, 39, is sadly too old for any of those main roles.

But there are plenty of adult characters as well. It's not hard to imagine Jordan playing the role of one of the professors or generals. Or, the dream scenario, maybe even the late father to romantic lead Xaden Riorson.

While Jordan wouldn't say more about his own potential to appear onscreen, he did open up about how he and his production company Outlier Society (which nabbed the rights, with Amazon, to adapt the novels) are approaching casting with care.

"When it's done the right way, I think you can have a nice balance where casting won't be distracting," Jordan said, adding that he hopes to include a mix of new faces along with some well-known names. "It allows people to, like, fall in love with the characters that they have imagined in their head without any baggage, with projecting their own feelings on certain casts."

Jordan, who is currently nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming Oscars for *Sinners* (which made history as the most-nominated film ever with 16 nods), also promised fans that the adaptation won't be "cheesy."

"Just know, it's nothing cheesy coming out," he said. "It ain't no obvious choices. I think it's going to be something that feels honest."

News of the Fourth Wing adaptation came just six months after *Fourth Wing*'s 2023 release.

"They're an ABSOLUTELY incredible team, and I can't wait to see their adaptation of *Fourth Wing *brought to life!" Yarros announced in an Instagram post in October 2023. "I have all the faith in the world in them! Words can't portray just how excited I am and how grateful to work with such amazing people!"

Yarros is also serving as an executive producer with Jordan, with Moira Walley-Beckett as the showrunner.

"I've read two versions of the script now," Yarros said at an *Onyx Storm* release event, shared in a clip posted on TikTok. "And I was scared, I was super scared to read it, because I think when you hand somebody your baby, and you say, 'Tell me what you think is important in here,' you're kind of like, 'It's *all* important,' and I kicked my feet the entire time. I love it."
