Donald Trump was up bright and early for an Oval Office event on Monday, May 11 — but it may have been too early for the president, who was caught dozing off on camera.

It is not the first time that Trump has been seen sleeping on the job this year — which has only added to concerns about whether his late-night social media activity is impacting his rest.

Trump’s power nap

Trump was joined at the White House by Dr. Mehmet Oz, Republican Sen. Katie Britt, maternal health advocate Olivia Walton and Dr. Dorothy Fink to launch Moms.gov — a new website encouraging American women to have more children.

Despite it being just 11 a.m. and his first event of the day, Trump struggled to keep his eyes open as those standing behind him spoke.

‘Sleepy Don’

It didn’t take long for the video to go viral, with “Sleepy Don” trending on X shortly after.

While some X users poked fun at the president’s power nap, others raised more serious questions about Trump’s ability to lead the country.

“Today is Monday. That means Trump falls asleep at yet another high profile event with cameras rolling,” California Representative Ted Lieu wrote. “Imagine what happens when there are no cameras. Trump is not mentally or physically fit to be president of the United States.”

“Trump fell asleep with his face drooping in the Oval Office during a meeting today,” commentator Harry Sisson chimed in. “This is a real video that should concern every American. He’s not fit to serve.”

“Sleepy Don has always been unfit,” another X user wrote.

‘Sleep disordered’

According to ‘The Daily Beast,’ President Donald Trump is getting neither enough nor consistent sleep. By: ZUMAPRESS.com/MEGA

The president’s habit of falling asleep in public has become common enough that The Daily Beast tracked his social media activity and found that his late-night and early-morning posts might have everything to do with the problem.

According to the report, which monitored his activity throughout April, Trump is getting neither enough nor consistent sleep.

“He is so regularly posting at times like 2:45 a.m.— which I think everybody knows nothing good happens at 2:45 a.m.— 1 a.m., 12:30 a.m. There’s one day in which he posted 18 times between midnight and 2:45, so there’s no way that he’s having any healthy sleep,” Executive Editor Hugh Dougherty said.

The report suggests the on-camera naps might be a consequence of the president’s sleepless nights.

“I mean, the diagram that we have of this, this information about him sleeping is really alarming,” Chief Creative and Content Officer Joanna Coles said, adding that Trump appears to be “sleep disordered.”
