Cody Simpson shares update on health crisis – 'Can't walk or talk'

Cody Simpson has been dealt multiple health blows.

The Australian singer, 29, took to Instagram to share that he "can't walk or talk" after damaging his vocal cords and knee.

"The universe is serving it to me this year!" he wrote Monday, June 29. "I've been on and off vocal rest for close to 3 months trying to heal a damaged vocal cord. We decided to operate to aid the recovery, then I discolated my knee rehearsing for a new music video and we had to push surgery back to let my knee settle."

The post included a photo of himself on crutches, a clip of his doctor discussing his vocal rest plan while showing video from inside his throat, and a clip of Simpson falling during a rehearsal, appearing in severe pain.

The singer added that he still shot the video, however, "I can't walk or talk for some time now, and no singing or dancing for months to come."

He called the injuries "forced rest."

"I've been pushing my body and mind for years now non-stop," he continued. "The album and live shows have to wait, but I've got some work to share while I'm down for the count. You can't hold me down! I'll be back stronger."

In May, he revealed the "serious hemorrhage" on one of his vocal cords after "singing through a sinus infection." He added that the injury "affected my ability to complete the album and polish up the next singles" amid his return to music.

The former teen star is coming off the release of a pair of new songs, "Baby Blue" and "When It Comes to Loving You," in March. He has been teasing the release of a new studio album, his first since 2022's "Cody Simpson," which also came after a lengthy hiatus.
