Wicked: One Wonderful Night premiered on NBC on Thursday, Nov. 6 and will be available to stream on Peacock on Nov. 7 ahead of the Nov. 21 release of Wicked: For Good
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo offered a sneak peek of new music from Wicked: For Good on NBC's One Wonderful Night special.
During the Nov. 6 broadcast, the pair sang fan favorites from the hit Broadway musical, and also previewed two brand-new songs: Erivo's "No Place Like Home" and Grande's "The Girl in the Bubble," written for the adaptations' second big-screen volume, Wicked: For Good by none other than the Grammy- and Oscar-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
Wicked, and the upcoming Wicked: For Good, star Erivo, 38, and Grande, 32, as Elphaba and Glinda the Good, respectively, with both films directed by Jon M. Chu. The second installment of the movie musical adaptations follows the aftermath of Dorothy's arrival in Oz and the witches' journey to change their fate.
One Wonderful Night saw Erivo introducing the Wizard of Oz-inspired lyrics in "No Place Like Home," a bittersweet ballad that finds Elphaba articulating her love of Oz â despite the discrimination and cruelty she's experienced growing up there.
Grande's new ballad, "The Girl in the Bubble," takes place later in Wicked: For Good, as an empowered but disillusioned Glinda grapples with her privilege and torn loyalty between Elphaba and the citizens of Oz.
