Noah Schnapp's Stranger Things character may be a little brother, but off-screen, he's a twin to his sister, Chloe Schnapp.

The actor and his fraternal twin were born in October 2004 in New York. While Noah has seldom discussed his sister in interviews, he told Variety in August 2023 that she played a big role in his coming out journey.

After Noah publicly came out as gay in a January 2023 TikTok video, he told the outlet that he decided to do so after his family dropped his sister back off at college, posting the video on his drive home.

The actor's decision was fueled by a series of events, including starting college at the University of Pennsylvania. When he came home so he could see his sister off to college, he made the decision to tell Chloe, who he said was "ecstatic."

“She said that she would’ve hated the idea of me marrying another girl and having to compete with that girl for my attention,” Noah shared. “The fact that now it’ll be a guy, she was like, ‘Oh, he’ll be my best friend.’ ”

Karine Schnapp and Mitchell Schnapp welcomed their twins Noah and Chloe on Oct. 3, 2004, in New York City.

Noah having a twin sister came as a surprise to many fans. In April 2016, the actor shared this detail with his fans in a since-deleted post on X. He responded to a fan who had written, “@noah_schnapp i just find out now you're a twin and i'm........HOW?????” In a repost, Noah replied, “Fraternal twins. Her name is Chloe.”

On their 18th birthday in October 2022, Noah shared a since-deleted carousel of the brother-sister duo throughout the years.

In the caption, he penned a sweet message to his sister, writing, “Happy birthday to my twin sister and truly bestest friend in the entire world. Couldn’t imagine this life without you. Here’s to 18.”

More recently, Chloe shared an Instagram tribute to Noah on their birthday in October 2025, writing, "My person in every universe and best friends forever and ever 🎈happy birthday."

She was the first person Noah came out to

Noah revealed during his Variety interview that his twin sister was the first person he came out to, noting, “I can’t tell anyone else before I tell my own twin sister — she’ll kill me.”

“I was driving, and I just kept putting it off,” he explained. “Our house was right down the road, and she was like, ‘Why do you keep making these wrong turns?’ I was like, ‘I can’t do it, I can’t do it.’ Then we got home, and I was like, ‘Screw it.’ ”

However, when Noah went back to college at Penn, he said he went back to “blatantly hiding” his sexuality, which he said “made everything miserable for those months.” Eventually, Noah’s mom visited him at school to check in on him.

“I couldn’t tell her how I was feeling without telling her what the problem was, so just one night at dinner, I was like, ‘This is it,’ ” he said. “She was like, ‘Finally, you told me!’ ”

On the list of people he told before he shared his video with the world was his real-life best friend and Stranger Things costar, Millie Bobby Brown.

Though Noah hasn’t posted on his YouTube channel since October 2020, Chloe made several appearances on her brother’s channel before that, including in two of the final videos he posted.

In one video, titled “Reacting to Our Old Videos,” Noah and Chloe enlisted the help of their parents to uncover footage from their childhoods for them to watch on camera. Throughout the nearly six-minute-long video, the brother-sister duo giggled at their family memories, which included moments from school, at home, on vacation with their parents and more.

Chloe also appeared in another video called “How Well Does My Sister Chloe Know ME?” where they tried to answer a series of questions about each other. Though Noah ultimately beat Chloe 4-3 in the game, several details about both siblings were revealed including how much Chloe wanted to see a Jonas Brothers concert and her love/hate relationship with working out, as well as the fact that she had appendicitis, which she said was her worst pain.
