Fans believe that songs on Swift’s most recent album releases, The Tortured Poets Department and The Life of a Showgirl, were inspired by Kelce

Taylor Swift’s love story with Travis Kelce has inspired many of her recent releases.

When the “Fortnight” singer dropped her 11th album The Tortured Poets Department (and a double album at 2 a.m.) in 2024, fans became convinced that at least a few lyrics are about their sweet relationship, including football references and how their relationship makes her feel “so high school.”

While discussing the album during her Eras Tour, Swift said writing the songs was a real “lifeline” for her as she dealt with heartbreak, disappointment and her time in the spotlight.

In October 2025, Swift’s 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, was released, and this time, the references to Kelce seemed to be more obvious. More Kelce-inspired lyrics arrived after the couple’s July 2026 wedding when Swift released four new tracks on the deluxe version of the album called The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, which debuted on Sept. 25 and included a track that is an unmistakable nod to her husband’s hometown.

Below, here are 10 songs Taylor Swift has written about Travis Kelce.

“The Alchemy”

The song that got the most attention when The Tortured Poets Department was first released was track 15, “The Alchemy,” which included many football references.

Throughout the song, Swift sings about making a big “comeback” following various heartbreaks. At one point, the lyrics appeared to be about moving on from her English ex-boyfriends Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy and dating Kelce as she sings, “These blokes warm the benches / We’ve been on a winning streak.”

The bridge also included a pointed reference to Kelce winning the 2024 Super Bowl (for which Swift was by his side).

“Shirts off, and your friends lift you up, over their heads / Beer stickin’ to the floor, cheers chanted ‘cause they said / ‘There was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league’ / Where’s the trophy? He just comes, running over to me,” she sings, apparently a nod to Kelce reuniting with her on the field after his big win.

“Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus”

In The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, the double album of The Tortured Poets Department released at 2 a.m., Swift made another reference to Kelce in “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”

Though fans have theorized that the song was largely about the aftermath of her relationship with Healy, she did include a quick lyric about moving on with someone else (and that someone else just might be a popular football star): “And you saw my bones out with somebody new / Who seemed like he would’ve bullied you in school.”

“So High School”

In track 22 of The Anthology, Swift sings about a newfound love feeling “so high school” which many theorized was about Kelce (after all, their love story has been compared by fans to Gabriella and Troy from High School Musical on many occasions).

The song, which was reminiscent of music from her Fearless era, also included some pointed football references as a nod to Kelce. At one point, she even referenced an old interview Kelce did where he was asked who he would marry, kiss and kill between her, Ariana Grande and Katy Perry. (For what it’s worth, he said he’d kiss Swift.)

“Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me (Kill me) / It’s just a game, but really (Really) / I’m bettin’ on all three for us two (All three),” Swift sings.

The singer seemingly confirmed that Kelce was the inspiration for the song when she announced their engagement in August 2025. Swift captioned a series of photos from the proposal with a reference to the track, writing “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

“The Fate of Ophelia”

The 2025 release of The Life of a Showgirl appeared to bring more Kelce references, starting with the opening track and lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia.” Inspired by William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Swift sings that she was saved from being “drowned” and “deceived” by the new love who has come into her life.

“Keep it 100,” a phrase Kelce has been known to use, is part of the song’s chorus, and the lyric “Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes” seems to point to the Chiefs.

Even more Easter eggs related to the tight end are included in the music video for the song, including a photo of Kelce on Swift’s dressing room mirror in one scene.

“Opalite”

Showgirl’s track 3, “Opalite,” is all about making your own happiness, and Swift has confirmed that the title is a direct nod to Kelce’s October birthstone, opal.

“Travis’ birthstone is an opal, so I’ve always fixated on that, I’ve always loved that stone,” Swift said during an October 2025 interview with Capital FM. “I thought it was kind of cool metaphor. [Opalite is] a man-made opal, and happiness can also be man-made, too. So, that’s kind of what the song is about, kind of the juxtaposition of those two.”

“Eldest Daughter”

Track 5, “Eldest Daughter,” is about learning to trust someone in the kind of romantic relationship that once seemed impossible.

“When I said I don’t believe in marriage that was a lie,” Swift sings.

The song also references both the experience of being the “eldest daughter” (Swift) and the “youngest child” (Kelce) in a family — another clue that he inspired the song.

“Wi$h Li$t”

In track 8, “Wi$h Li$t,” Swift sings about just wanting a life and a family with Kelce, despite the glamour and money that comes with celebrity.

“I just want you / Have a couple kids, got the whole block lookin’ like you / We tell the world to leave us the f--- alone … and they do / Wow / Got me dreamin’ ‘bout a driveway with a basketball hoop / Boss up, settle down, got a wishlist / I just want you,” Swift sings in the song, later voicing her plea for “a best friend who I think is hot.”

“Wood”

The cheekiest nod to Kelce that Swift has penned so far is The Life of a Showgirl’s track 9, “Wood,” which is filled with innuendo and a shout-out to his podcast: “New Heights of manhood / I ain’t gotta knock on wood.”

Starting out as a song about superstitions, it quickly transforms into something a bit more raunchy, including the lyrics “Forgive me, it sounds cocky / He ah-matized me and opened my eyes / Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see / His love was the key that opened my thighs.”

“Honey”

On track 11, “Honey,” Swift sings about terms of endearment sounding “passive aggressive” to her before her relationship with Kelce, but now, she’ll let him call her “honey.”

The NFL player previously revealed during a New Heights episode that “sweetie” is one of his pet names for the singer.

“Cleveland!”

With the Sept. 25 release of The Encore came “Cleveland!,” the first song Swift has released about Kelce since their July 2026 wedding.

Not only does she sing about the “love of [her] life” bringing her to his hometown, Cleveland Heights — “He already took me to Cleveland, and showed me The Heights” — but she also mentions their wedding in one line when she sings, “now I’m wearing white.”
